Vanback — terms and conditions
These terms explain exactly how the buyback guarantee works. Plain English, one page — because the return conditions are where trust is won or lost.
1. What Vanback is (and who promises what)
- Vanback is two separate things: (a) a Hire Purchase agreement between you and the lender, and (b) a written buyback guarantee between you and Worcester Vans Ltd.
- The finance agreement is regulated consumer credit provided by the lender. The buyback guarantee is a contractual promise from Worcester Vans Ltd, not from the lender, and is not an insurance product.
- Worcester Vans Ltd is a credit broker, not a lender, and may receive a commission from the lender.
2. Your Guaranteed Buyback Price (GBP)
- Your GBP is fixed per van, per term (2 or 3 years), based on 10,000 miles per year, and is stated in writing on your quote and order form before you sign anything.
- The GBP equals the final payment on your finance agreement. Worcester Vans guarantees to buy the van back for the GBP at the end of the term, subject to the mileage and condition terms in sections 5 and 6.
3. Your three choices at the end of the term
- Keep it — pay the final payment to the lender and the van is yours.
- Trade it — use the GBP as your part-exchange value against your next van from Worcester Vans; we settle the final payment with the lender as part of the deal.
- Hand it back — we buy the van at the GBP and settle the final payment with the lender on your behalf. Any deduction under sections 5 or 6 is payable by you at handback.
4. Telling us, and handing the van back
- Tell us which choice you're making at least 14 days before your final payment is due. Call, WhatsApp or email — details below.
- Handback happens at our premises by appointment. Bring both keys, the service records, the V5C, and any accessories the van came with.
- We inspect the van with you present and agree any deductions in writing on the day — itemised, no surprises.
5. Mileage terms
- Your allowance is 10,000 miles per year, pro-rated to the day of handback (e.g. 30,000 miles on a 3-year agreement).
- Miles over the allowance are deducted from the GBP at 10p per mile.
- There is no charge for unused miles, and no per-mile benefit — the GBP does not go up.
6. Condition — fair wear and tear
- We expect a working van, not a showroom van. Fair wear and tear consistent with age and mileage is fine and costs you nothing: light stone chips, minor scuffs, worn pedal rubbers, seat wear.
- What isn't fair wear and tear, and will be deducted from the GBP at the reasonable cost of repair: accident damage, dents and scratches through the paint, cracked glass or lamps, kerbed or buckled wheels, interior damage beyond normal use, missing parts or keys, and any unauthorised modifications.
- We assess against the industry-standard fair wear and tear guide, and we itemise every deduction in writing at inspection. If you disagree, you can obtain an independent assessment from a qualified engineer before completing the handback.
7. Looking after the van during the agreement
- The van must be serviced on time to the manufacturer's schedule — by us, or by a VAT-registered garage with dated invoices and stamped records.
- The van must hold a valid MOT (where applicable) and have no warning lights outstanding at handback.
8. When the guarantee doesn't apply
- The van has been written off, recorded on an insurance register (Cat A/B/S/N), stolen and recovered with unrepaired damage, or used for competition, driving tuition or hire.
- The finance agreement is in arrears or has been terminated early. The guarantee applies at the natural end of the term.
- The service history requirement in section 7 hasn't been met.
- The van has any finance, charge or claim against it other than the Vanback HP agreement.
9. The small print that protects you
- The guarantee is between Worcester Vans Ltd and the customer named on the order form. It isn't transferable if you sell the van or transfer the finance.
- Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and your rights under the finance agreement itself (including voluntary termination rights under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, which are separate from and unaffected by Vanback).
- If we fail to honour the guarantee, you can enforce it as a contract claim. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
- Complaints: contact us first and we'll respond within 14 days. Complaints about the finance agreement itself go to the lender, and you may be entitled to refer them to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
